Whether you start from scratch with unroasted coffee beans or mix up a cup of instant, there are many reasons people begin their day with a cup of coffee. In fact, some of us turn into a nasty troll if we don’t get our daily dose of this exquisite caffeinated beverage. If you happen to be one of those people who can naturally wake up in the morning well-rested, good-natured and raring to go without a coffee boost, good for you. But for those who curse the morning sun, coffee is our vice, our hero, the only reason we get out of bed. Well, there are other reasons we drink coffee of course.
It Wakes You Up
It is important that you are fully awake when you begin your day. Many of us feel sluggish and tired in the morning, which can lead to any number of unfortunate incidents. No doubt there are those who have accidently brushed their teeth with Preparation H instead of toothpaste or have poured orange juice in the Fruity Pebbles because they weren’t yet fully alert. You see, coffee contains a hefty amount of that stimulant known as caffeine, which boosts blood flow and fights fatigue.
Improved Creativity
Coffee promotes greater creativity. If you have a job that requires you to think rather than complete a monotonous task over and over, coffee will help. In fact, research has shown that coffee can promote creativity. If you find this hard to swallow, here is an example:
A sentence written before morning coffee-Mumbo dogface in a banana patch.
A sentence written after coffee by the same writer- The man who stole my car did so without evil intention, quite the contrary actually, he did nothing but obey his feelings of curiosity, which, as we know, is one of the best traits of human nature.
You see? There is solid proof that coffee improves creativity.
Increased Productivity
If you could measure the amount of wood a woodchuck chucks in an hour before his cup of coffee and compare that to the amount of wood he can chuck in an hour after his cup of coffee, we are betting he could chuck considerably more wood after his cup of coffee. And just so you know, no woodchucks were hurt in this sentence.
Reduces Suicide Risk
Researchers at Harvard, of all places, did a study that showed drinking two to four cups of coffee can reduce the risk of suicide in men and women by as much as 50 percent. The reason behind this is because coffee acts as a mild, yet effective, anti-depressant. Basically, coffee stimulates the production of those happy neurotransmitters like dopamine and serotonin, which makes us happy and less likely to off ourselves.
Enhances Performance
Drinking coffee helps you gain energy so you can better perform those physical tasks. Caffeine acts as a catalyst on the central nervous system, raising metabolism and increasing the oxidation of fatty acids. Research has also shown that athletes perform better after drinking coffee.
So as you can clearly see, coffee should be part of your morning routine.
