Impress Her with Your Stash of South American Coffee

Would you like to go get coffee sometime?

This has to be the quintessential first-date proposal in the 21st century, or at least since diners have been around. If you have had a first date over coffee, join the club because so have the majority of Americans. But just what makes the first romantic encounter over coffee so perfect? We have a few ideas why coffee is the best way to break the ice.

Cheap Date

Dinner and drinks are huge expenditures, especially on a first date. Look, there is no guarantee that your date won’t have a moment of clarity and ditch you by climbing out the bathroom window in the middle of your date. For this reason, you want to make sure to keep damage to a minimum. It is far wiser to lose 12 to 20 bucks at a coffee shop than 40 to 60 bucks at a restaurant should your date decide to bail.

Now, if things look like they could be headed in the right direction, set up a second date at one of your favorite food establishments.

Your Drink has Character, Even if She Doesn’t

The most important part of a first date is to determine her personality. However, if you find out she has no personality, at least you can still enjoy a beverage that is full of character. The bold flavor of your coffee may, in fact, prompt you to make a bold statement by declaring out loud that she isn’t the one and your search for a soulmate continues.

Coffee Enables You to Keep Your Wits

There is no such thing as “coffee goggles.” Which is good for you because you cannot count the times you wound up in very bad situations because reality changes when you are consuming alcoholic beverages. Let’s put it this way; no matter how much coffee you drink, it won’t change your perception of how good your date looks. If she is, say, below your standards in several aspects, no amount of coffee will change that. But after a few adult beverages, you might be feeling good enough to propose to the woman. It does happen you know.

My Place or Yours?

If the first date at the coffee shop goes over well, you can suggest a second date. And since she is obviously a huge fan of coffee, this gives you the opportunity to invite her to your place, for coffee, of course. And if she accepts, it is the perfect opportunity to break out your stash of South American coffee or unroasted coffee beans and impress her with your totally refined taste. Then who knows what things lead to; a third date at Applebee’s perhaps.

Ideal for Conversation

Let’s face it, the first date is all about finding out more about the person you are with. It is rather hard to have a conversation over shrimp scampi and chocolate lava cake. Sipping coffee and chatting is as natural as swimming in swimming trunks. Sorry, we couldn’t come up with anything better.

Anyway, enjoy your date.
