Fresh Green Coffee Beans vs. Diet Soda

We all know the number one drink for quenching thirst. But sometimes you are in the mood for something a little more. The problem is that many beverage choices are high in sugar, calories and just plain bad for you.
You enjoy a cup of coffee or two a day and see nothing wrong with that. After all, you use fresh green coffee beans, don’t add sugar and just a touch of milk. Your work colleague who sits two desks to your left openly mocks you for drinking coffee. He says it’s bad for you and you should switch to something more healthy. He says this as he is sipping a diet soda.

You look around to see what your fellow co-workers are drinking. You notice two people sipping fancy coffee drinks from an overpriced coffee shop, three people drinking soda, one of them is a diet soda and one person sucking down an energy drink.

This gets you thinking about what beverages are unhealthy, the worst of the group. Well, we did the research for you.

Flavored Water

Infused and flavored waters might deliver a few added vitamins, but along with that is a lot of added sugar. It is best if you check the label to see if anything more than water and natural flavors are added. If so, it might be a good idea to leave it on the shelf and choose a different beverage.

Diet Soda

Diet soda might have zero calories, but it also has absolutely no nutritional value. In addition, if you are slamming diet sodas all day, you probably aren’t getting all the nutrients your body needs.

Another problem with diet soda is that artificial sweeteners have an intense flavor, more so than sugar, so over time it will dull your senses to naturally sweet foods like fruit. Basically, you are biting into an apple and not enjoying it because it no longer tastes sweet.

What’s even more troubling is that the artificial sweeteners in diet soda affect your body in the same manner as sugar. Artificial sweeteners trigger insulin, which tells your body to take the fat and store it and you start to gain weight, even though your are drinking soda with zero calories.

Fruit Juice

You might think that drinking a juice made from fruit is a healthy choice, but then you would be wrong. You see, while fruit is rich in fiber, fruit juice is not. Also, fruit juices contain a lot of calories, in some cases as many calories as there are in soda.

Energy Drinks

Just because an energy drink is loaded with B vitamins, it does not mean that it is healthy. Drinking just one energy drink can raise your blood pressure t an unhealthy level.

Sports Drinks

Unless you are a high-performance athlete, you don’t need to chug sports drinks to replace electrolytes. Face it, your half an hour on the treadmill does not warrant a 24-ounce sports drink before you hit the showers.

The next time somebody criticizes you for drinking coffee, point out the flaws in their beverage of choice.
