There is a reason why so many people buy their coffee beans from us and roast them at home. The main reason is because by buying their own African or Ethiopian coffee beans, they can skip the coffee shops altogether, and this is a good thing. Why? Because coffee shops are horrible places, not all of them, but a fair share of them.
Take a moment and consider the last time you went to a coffee shop, perhaps it was enjoyable, but we are betting there was something about it that you could complain about. Go ahead, we’re listening.
All kidding aside, not really, here is a list of reasons why coffee shops are bad places.
Kids
We love kids, but whenever we are in a coffee shop it seems like there is at least one out-of-control kid terrorizing everybody in earshot. Then the parents try to settle the little guy or girl down by having them eat a cupcake or some other sugar-packed snack which only seems to fuel the fire as it were. Why don’t you just give the kid an espresso? That would do just as good trying to calm him or her down. Worst of all, all the screaming, squirming and ruckus doesn’t seem to bother mom and dad as they sip their coffee and discuss better ways to parent.
Prices
How much for a cup of coffee? There was a time when you could sit in a restaurant and drink all the coffee you could hold for a quarter. Nowadays, you need to take out a small loan to treat your friends to a cup of coffee at a coffee shop.
Music
Look, Deathcab for Cutie, Snow Patrol and Lenka are all fine performers, but sometimes we want to listen to some mainstream rock or funk or jazz. Heck, we would even be happy to listen to some relaxing ambient music. But bottom line, drinking coffee at home means you can listen to whatever you want, even death metal. Cannibal Corpse and coffee, what a sweet combination.
Weirdos
There are people who frequent coffee shops that can only be described as a little weird. Coffee shops seem to draw all types of people, and some of them you would rather not have a conversation with.
Inconsistent Coffee
This is one of our pet peeves. Even though you may order the same type of coffee every time, or winds up tasting different. This can be chalked up to any number of problems, but it is really annoying when the very same coffee you ordered last week tastes so much better than the one you ordered today.
